Sunrise Sunset

Sunrise and Sunsets

I once was obsessed with them. They were reminders to me that a bad day was over and a new day was soon to begin. They were my live art session with the creator, skillfully painting brand new colors in the sky, a day never being the same as another. I marveled at the beauty and God enjoyed my enjoyment of his work. But the stormy seasons of life blended my time, blended my days and just like that trick that I loved as a kid became uncool, it seemed like God’s masterpieces lost their magic.

But God’s masterpieces do not lose their magic. Just because I chose not to unwrap a gift does not devalue what is in the box. And if I don’t unwrap the box, it’s because I’ve lost faith in the giver of the gift, it’s because I’ve lost perspective. The perspective…. That those elaborate light paintings in the sky to mark time, mark growth, mark progress, mark hope. The masterpiece comes with the gift of the master’s peace
